Blanca Garza has worked as a news anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 48, which airs Monday through Friday at 5:30 PM, 6 PM and 11 PM on Telemundo 48 Área de la Bahía / KSTS, the local station that serves the Latino community in the Bay Area.
As part of the Noticiero Telemundo 48, Garza reports on breaking and the most important news for our viewers in the Bay Area. Garza joined Telemundo 48 in 2001.
As an experienced journalist with more than two decades of experience, Garza has worked as news anchor at KSTV TV, the Galavisión affiliate station located in Ventura, California. In 1995, Garza worked as news anchor for Univision 34 KMEX in Los Angeles and was a reporter for the Network Univision show, Primer Impacto. Garza has also served as a correspondent for other networks such as Televisa; and has reported for other national and international newscasts.
Garza has been recognized for her journalism work on various occasions. She has received 2 awards recognizing her as the best Hispanic news anchor by American Women in Radio & Television, Golden Gate Chapter.
She has also received the "Golden Mike" awarded by the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California for her news story "México Insólito.” In 2011 she was recognized by the California Senate for her continuous service to the Latino community.
Garza’s alma mater is Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.
Garza has a special interest in stopping poverty and works closely with organizations such as Sacred Heart of San Jose. Garza also supports the indigenous community and the LGBT community.
